#99 – Motlabana Monnakgotla, Photo-Journalist, Johannesburg, South Africa

Photojournalist and author. Captured the famous Richard Maponya Portrait

Motlabana Monnakgotla is a photo journalist from Johannesburg, South Africa. He grew up loving the Arts. He decided to go to Photography College, because that is what he could afford, but the lessons he got there were the ones that solidified his decision to become a photographer. He started working as a newspaper journalist; and learnt that it was not something he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He took the lessons he learnt there to go work for a publication that combines his tertiary studies with what he learnt working in the newsroom. He has produced photo portraits of some of the most prominent figures in South Africa, and intends to document the life of some of the unrecognized talents in the country.
